On the 12th of March 2013 UK Sustainable Investment and Finance Association (UKSIF) is launching the inaugural ‘Ownership Day’. The day is part of a new national initiative by UKSIF to raise awareness of – and increase demand for – good quality active ownership by investment professionals. Promoting active and long-term responsible ownership strategies in investment management is at the heart of
UKSIF’s strategy to support and advance the UK finance sector in leading the world in advancing sustainable development through financial services, and assisting their members to deliver effective, sustainable, and responsible financial services. On the Ownership Day itself UKSIF will: - Highlight good practice examples where active ownership has led to financial benefits for investors. - Call on asset owners, including pension fund members and retail investors to ask their trustees, financial advisers and fund managers whether their portfolio is being actively managed. - Discuss the future of active ownership and its role in bringing about sustainable growth. A Parliamentary Reception will also be held at the House of Commons to celebrate the day. The reception will be hosted by Martin Horwood MP, with support for this event coming from Aviva Investors, CCLA, F&C Management, Hermes Equity Ownership Services, Jupiter Asset Management, Legal & General Investment Management, Manifest Proxy Voting Agency, Newton Investment Management and Vigeo. Speakers will include Professor John Kay. While this reception is invitation-only, those with queries can get in touch by contacting UKSIF at events@uksif.org.
